Day 18

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

I've been packing and scrambling for last minute things all day! I have a 8 o clock flight tomorrow...I am not the best morning person. However, I'm going to New York so it could be worse ;)
For this look i did another, "biker chick" "Megan Fox from Transformers"! It's fun to wear, but easy. For my shirt I'm wearing an acid washed shirt from Macy's ($13.00) Matched with a black layered necklace (can't remember where i got it!) The 365 day skirt.
P.S a good tip if your going for a more "rugged" look, make sure to bring some aspect back of femininity, such as a skirt, necklace ext!!
Lastly, I wore my Megan Fox-Fry knock offs to put the finishing piece to a tougher look!!

See you tomorrow, I'll be in NEW YORK WOOO

Day 17

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

I'm back!
Soon, I will be jetting off to New York for fashion school! However, I'll be able to update there because I'll have my computer!
For this outfit, I picked a simple day wear outfit. On top I'm wearing a black and white pock-a-dot dress (Target $4.00! wooo what a deal :) ) Ps, a great thing about high waisted skirts, Is you can take a long shirt or a dress and just tuck it in, in a lot of these day posts, I'll be wearing dresses!
Anyways back to the outfit! A layered necklace from Nordstroms (gift from my friend, unknown price) Next, the 365 day skirt (Macy's $16.00) A black belt from Claire's...($6.00) It actually has a big buckle of a peace sign..but I thought that was a little cheap lookin so i just turned it around! Lastly, my knock off Fry boots (Target $25.00)
I wear a lot of just black and white, because it's simple and classic. However, you could jazz this up with a colored sweater, shoe, or maybe a hat! Be creative!!!!!

Day 16

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

I picked this outfit today, because I'm wearing it, and I'm lazy :)
Alright this outfit is just a fun outfit for any age. For my shirt, I'm wearing a tribal-esk shirt from Forever 21 ($12.00) A layered silver necklace from Macy's ($10.00) The 365 day skirt (Macy's $16.00) and lastly, my shoes. (Forever 21 $27.00) Right now I've been wearing a lot of heels. I especially like the type of heels where there isn't a separation from shoe, to heel....if that makes any sense. So i bought some cheap ones from Forever 21 and I lovvvve them. There comfortable but still give you some lift and the look of wearing heels!

I'm leaving for tahoe in a day or two so I might miss a week.....I'll either do a bunch in one day, or when i come back....we'll see

Day 15

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

In this outfit, I chose a more sophisticated route. It actually, looks like a full on dress if your not really paying attention! This outfit doesn't really need any jewelry, because the shirt is almost a decoration, and jewelry would be unnecessary. For my shirt, I'm actually wearing a dress that I just tucked into my skirt, it's a black and gold sequenced dress from Macy's ($10.00) Sequence and glitter are really in this year so I wanted to get one with colors that I wouldn't get tired of, or I could use in different ways! Then the 365 day skirt (Macy's $16.00) Lastly, for my shoes I'm actually wearing dance shoes! However, my idea was to go for the "nude shoe" look, but since I don't have any, I had to improvise! Nude shoes are really big this year, and since florals are a popular pattern, if you match it with a pair of nude heels, it gives some more color, without going to "bold" with white or black, but staying with a lighter pallet!

See you tomorrow!

Day 14

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

Alright, right now I've been rocking blazers ALL the time. I really like them, and you can dress them up or down! For this outfit I took a tan blazer (Nordstrom $20.00) My family calls it the "80's blazer" THen I matched it with a black and white striped shirt with some lace on the neck line (Norstroms $15.00). Next, the 356 day skirt (Macy's $16.00) Last my red moccasins from Target ($5.00)

Short one today!

Your bottom half is eating your dress...

OK I HAVE to tell this story.
Yesterday, my mom and I went to Costco. Just their getting food and minding our own business, when all of a sudden a girl walks by us. She seems to be in her 20's, curvier, and wearing a long grey dress. Not really paying attention, until I took a double take at her walking by, did I notice her butt. OH my good god! First of all, her thong was COMPLETELY showing through her dress, but that wasn't the worst part! When she walked, her rear reacted...I don't even know how to describe it...it was unbelievable. You know how some girls sway their hips to make them look good, well this was like she was trying to do that, but failing completely. It seemed like each "side" was doing a different thing! My mom called it "Two rino's fighting in her pants". It was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. I could NOT look away!
I even noticed that men were looking, but not like "Hey-baby Look", but in amazement like I was!!!!
Oh god it was so funny, and weird, and uncanny all at the same time!!

Next time you go out wearing a little thong, and you have a decent sized rear end....please ask your nearest love one to check you PLEASE

day 13

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

Just before 12!
For this outfit I did a more fun, hipster outfit. The highly popular plaid shirt from Macys ($14.00) Matched with the BEST white t-shirt, from Nordstroms ($20.00-get them in every colorful, so comfortable and cute!) Also a layered necklace from Nordstroms but given to me by a friend, so I don't know the price! Then the 365 day skirt (Macy's $16.00) Last matched with some fabric boots (I wore them out so there kind of torn, but that means I like them :) $20.00 from Macys) Key note-Black shoes are one of the best things a woman can have in their closet. Especially, little boots with a slight heel, this way you can wear them up or dress'em down!

See you tomorrow!!

Day 12

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

For this outfit, I brought in the concept of accessories, that being purses! Besides my 365 day skirt (macy's $16.00) I'm wearing a pair of purple slip ons from Macys ($15.00) and a hand me down Banana Republic sweater. However, the most noticeable thing from the outfit is my bag. A black and white (with small splotches of red) pictures of faces, lighting bolt, ext. This purse goes with everything, but also bring attraction for being different!

The Cobra Shop

I recently found this website called "The Cobra Shop". A really awesome fashion website. They mix urban with 80's and a new look to clothes. One of the first things I noticed from the pictures is they love old, oversized shirts with old cartoons. They mix around different concepts for different outfits, but still held that overal look of being hip. The outfits they wear are those outfit's that you just LOVE put just look at them, and feel like you couldn't wear it right (well thats how I feel haha I guess I don't think i'm hip enought :) )

http://shop.thecobrasnake.com/

go check it out, they have some really great stuff.

Day 11

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

I just posted Day 10, but I want to get back on track.
For this outfit, people of the age of 13-16, can wear this. It's younger, but still fun. For my shirt I'm wearing a pink shirt from Nordstrom ($10.00) With a dramatic color. To be honest, the shirt alone i don't like because the neck makes it look like your a lion, but if you match it with a leather jacket, you can only see a little bit and it makes it look a lot better! Next is the 365-day-skirt (Macy's $16.00) Lastly, I matched it with some knee high boots (Macy's $15.00) Yes they are "boots with the fur" if you roll them over, but I leave them up as high as possible. A plus to them is that their awesome in the winter, keep you nice and warm, like Uggs...but cheaper :)
For all these pictures I actually took them with my face IN them, but I looked gross so I just cropped them out. However, for this outfit I wore a knit hat to complement the warm shoes. Kind of a contradiction of the skirt, with winter boots/hat's outfit I would call it!

Katie

Day 10

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

Wo 10 days
I went to a friends house last night and forgot to upload :(
Anyways!!! Back to being excited it's 10 days!
For this outfit I picked a skateboard/more relaxed look. I actually really like this outfit because it mixes color/comfort/fun ext. I got my shirt from the Disney store for $10.00. I LOVE vintage disney shirts I think their so cool, so I had to get one! Also, if you didn't notice, I rolled the sleeves up because they were to big, but you can let them down. After taking this picture, I cut the shirt up. This could make this outfit more "rebellious" :)
Next is the black skirt (Macy's $16.00) Lastly, I matched it with some red Converse's ($20.00?) To put a finishing touch to a simple but cool look.

365-10=355.........still a long way to go

Day 9

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

Back again, on track...sorry about that!
Alright for this outfit I went back to the black and white theme. Simple but still fun. Since I didn't have any color, I decided to add a graphic t-shirt thats plain black and white, instead of just a solid black or white shirt. I got that shirt from Forever 21 for $10.00, it was on sale but all they had were mediums. Problem is, I'm a small, and with fabric sleeves that can't be adjusted, the shirt always falls down! I'm wearing some funky feathered earrings from Target ($7.00). The typical skirt (Macy's $16.00) , and my Steve Maddin Black Boots (amazing-less than 30 from Macys).

One more day for 10 days! YHEA

Katie

Day 8

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

Happy Father's Day! I was off a day so i'll post two today to get back on track :) So this outfit is more of a retro/80's look. I took a cheap tank top (a hand me down from my friend), took the front of the shirt and tied it off to make a kind of crop top. Since I was just wearing it with the 365 shirt ($16.00 Macy's) I added a fun bag to go with it. This little camel colored hobo bag is super light weight, easy to just throw things in, and only $23.00 at Nordstrom's BP. I also just wore some cute black and white keds ($20.00 anywhere pretty much) to add to the 80's look (dirty dancing...if you don't know what I'm talking about, watch the movie)

See you later for the REAL day 8, but will be day 9, sorry :)

day 7

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

I just got home from my road trip, that's why it's so late, but it will be in before 12 oclock :)
This outfit is more casual/school wear
on top i'm wearing a crop sweater thing (so itchy!!) from Anthropology for $10.00
an off white scarf from Nordstrom's for $10.00
365 day skirt

and my favorite Steve Madden black boots ($20 something)

a whole week done!

Day 6

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

Sorry, I was sick last night...gross
anyways, Day 7 WOOOO. Since I missed the day, I decided to put up my favorite one so far, this rock and roll look. The big thing right now is grung/rock and roll/glamour...so I tried it myself! On top I'm wearing this really cool, light weight, t-crossed backing shirt (from Nordstrom-$20.00) I Really like this shirt, however the only down fall is that it's low cut so you have to continuously pull it up! My necklace is from Nordstrom for like $5.00, layered necklaces are really in, and I love silver: so this was a good buy :D
As for my shoes, I'm wearing black, Steve Madden boots (got them on sale at Macy's for like $10.00, can you believe it!) Ever since I bought them like a couple of months ago, I wear them all the time. There cute, comfy, give you some lift. Every thing about them is great!

Sorry for the day off, won't happen again :D

Day 5

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

I'm on a road trip with my mom so I might be a little late on my 365 day project....but we'll see. For todays outfit, I did something simple with color. Besides the "every day skirt" (Macy's-$16.00) I'm wearing a blue and black stripped tank top. It goes down to my knees, to short for a dress, but to long to be a shirt worn over jeans. Making this skirt the perfect thing to match with the shirt. Since there is a lack of color, I matched the outfit with purple flats by steve madden ($20.00) . Rounded in the front, the shoes are very innocent and very cute, adding just the perfect amount of color to bland colored outfit. To top it off, I'm wearing a large cocktail ring that looks like a flower, very cute, but makes your finger green. (got it in a boutique in San Diego for $10.00)
See you tomorrow!

Katie

day 4

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

I'm tired
packing for college tours

day 4- southern look
key black skirt (Macy's $16.00)
white intricate neck line (Nordstrom $13.50)
necklaces (key necklace $4.00 for the key, heart locket..given to me as a kid from my parents :D )
belt (my grandfathers)
shoes-steve madden riding boots (on sale $38.00)

I'll try to put some out tomorrow or i'll see you in a week!

Monday, June 14, 2010

Day 3

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

For todays outfit I went for more of a retro look. Besides my black skirt (Macys- $16.00) I'm actually wearing a full romper from Target. It looks ten times better under the skirt then all alone. However, under the skirt, the shorts were kindof popping out!! I'm also wearing little mary jane heels I got for like $20.00 (I wore them mostly when I was in theater, really comfortable).
Short one today, see you tomorrow :D

Real Life Dress up

Today my two good friends from high school came over. I told them my plan for this blog and seemed very into it. I wanted to make something with them in it. My main idea was to take clothes they wear every day, and give them a new look. My friend Annie was very excited and brought many things to help me out. Besides telling her to bring some key essential, the rest of what to bring was up to her. She gave me plenty of "rocker" clothes, and plaid- the popular trends for teens our age. As for my friend Alexis, she didn't understand completely and only brought a dress and a couple of shirts. With a very innocent, but fresh style from her and a more grungy from Annie, I was excited to work with them. For Annie, we did a combination of mixing colors and layers. For Alexis, we played with mostly dresses, focusing around one dress where she can turn it into multiple different outfits. Taking over 95 pictures, and more than 10 outfits, I had to cut down to my favorites of the two girls. For Annie (the brunette) i picked two completely different outfits. One, with nothing but a long cashmere sweater and knitted hat, and a layered plaid shirt, with black dress, a long blue cross and zippered ankle heels. For Alexis (the blonde), I took a really intricately designed top, tucked into a black high waisted skirt.
It was fun playing real life dress up :D

The Best Fashion

Fashion through the years has had it's ups and downs. From poodle skirts, to tie dye everything, we have come a long way. Passing the terrible years (that most people lived rather not look back upon on the topic of clothing) the world created beautiful things. Personally, I have always found a huge fascination in the 30's and 40's. From the music, to the way people acted and especially the fashion. Everything from that time was so well put together, sophisticated and beautiful. Traveling, men would wear their hats, and women in their nicest dress. Although I personally like to sport my pajama's while on a airplane, it's amazing how time has change. It seems like two different world from the mid 1900's to present time. The world is seen through completely different eyes. However, I always think that if thats how they thought, and dressed, and acted, what will the world be like in 50 years from now?

Katie

Day 2

Next day of the 365 day challenge. The challenge being for 365 days, I will make an outfit with the same skirt, without repeating what I wear!

Alright second day, so far so good. Still wearing the same black dress ($16.00 from Macy's) But for the top I'm wearing an
Asymmetrical purple shirt from Old Navy. I got it on sale (of course) i think i got like 3 of the same thing in white, purple , and floral. I'm also wearing a black elastic belt with a gold leaf shaped belt buckle. I got it from Nordstrom for like $13-14. Lastly my shoes, there my sisters and I have no idea where she got them or how much they are. Which ok because they were extremely small and extremely uncomfortable (but that could be a result in the smallness...)
For this kind of outfit this is probably not teen attire, more 20's and older work/party attire. But it's all up to you
Well, second day checked off....I have no idea how I'm going to do 363 more of these

Katie

Legging's aren't Pants!

Listen, I get it, they're comfortable, and their easy to wear, but you just can't wear leggings as pants! See when leggings were prominently worn, before this huge wave of leggings came back, they were rocked through the 80's. However, although they were wearing these elastic pants, it was usually topped with a ridiculously colorful oversized sweater, or a cut tank for jazzercise class. Since the phase in fashion was a disaster zone, you would think those ideas would be put to rest... Don't get me wrong, I like wearing leggings. They're easy to move in, they give your more warmth then tights, ext. But I don't rock em with my booty hanging out for everyone to see! To properly wear them, wear a long enough shirt so waist down to before your knee is covered. No more of this short shirt with leggings because you look ridiculous because there not pants!

next we'll wear stockings with crop tops OY

Katie

Shorts with Boots

See heres the things about boots with shorts. When jean shorts are match with a pair of ankle uggs.........oy When I looked up this picture the first thing that came up was Britney Spears, so you know it's a classy move coming from the girl who walks in gas stations with no shoes on.

However, sometimes I love shorts with boots (ugg boots are out of the question). See in Transformers 2 Megan Fox continues to wear these Fry boots that I LOVED. To my surprise Target made knock-off ones for like $30.00 (see this is why i love target). I wear them all the time. Boots give you some toughness, some sort of height and the kind of shoes that the more beat up they are, the better! However, I sometimes love to wear the boots with a pair of daisy dukes. I would never wear that to school because I know girls would say snooty comments, however, I love it, outside just walking around. I feel southern, but fashionable, such as today. I wore a cashmere sweater (my friends) a pair of white high waisted shorts that I got from Macy's for $10.00 and my Target Fry boots. I thought it was adorable, but when ever i put my foot into the boots while wearing shorts I always second guess myself. It's still a fashion battle I will continuously be against, or side with.

Katie

Day 1

One of the things I wanted to do on this blog was one of those "every day for 365 days i will do something different with one same thing"...thing. So for mine I'm going to focus around one key item for 365 days, plus having the outfits being inexpensive!! I will try to remember where and how much each item is, but if not i'll let you know! For the one thing worn every day, I will be wearing a black bandage skirt. I got if from Macy's a month ago for $16.00. I got it in all black as well as black and white stripes. I picked this black skirt because black is that one color that works for anyone and works with any other article of clothing. (Almost everything I'm matching it with is mine and i've owned for awhile.)
A fun thing about the skirt is that it's the bandage style (where it looks like you literally took bandages and sewed them together: just wanted to clarify). It's very popular this year so I thought i should join in on the fun. However, this skirt, although its a great little high waisted skirt, is the most funky material I have ever felt. My friend described it as seatbelt material, which it kind of is. But, it definitely keeps everything tight and holds in any shirt or top in place. However, I will be able to create plenty of amazing outfits with accessories, shoes, ext.

For my first day I chose a simple combination with the black. WHITE. It creates either a sophisticated look where you leave the two colors alone, or you add a colorful pop of color to your shoes or a accessory. For mine, since I'm a teenager, I was aiming towards a school outfit. However, it is very easy to slip on a pair of pumps to jazz it up. For the top I'm wearing a ruffled tank top from Nordstrom. I think i got it for $10.00, however one flaw to it is that its really low cut and since the straps are fabric, they stretch so the neck line continues to get lower and lower. As for my necklace, my friend gave that to me for my birthday. She got it from Height street in San Francisco for around $20.00. I love that necklace which is surprising because i usually hate yellow gold. It has this etched on mural of two horses which is really cool too. As for the belt, I actually took a long thing of fabric and tide it around my waist. So the price would be like........20 cents (haha). Lastly are the shoes. You should all learn that I am a HUGEEEE Target fan. So i got these shoes from Target for like $4.00 and there super comfortable. However, like all slip ons and stuff you have to "break into them" first before you can wear them around all the time.

Alright so day number one is completed, can't wait for tomorrows!!!
p.s. this is going for June 11,2010 i Just finished like right after 12 :D

Katie

The Beginning

From the long years I have lived (that being only 16) I've always known I wanted to be creative. However, it wasn't until I passed the awkward stringy haired, glasses wearing stage of my life to realize i love clothes. Being kind of an important thing to have (otherwise everyone would be naked and personally i would not want to see a large person running towards me with no pants on....just saying). Just because everyone is "doing it" (that being clothes and fashion trends) doesn't mean you can't be different. Not only different, but your own personal touch. For me, being comfortable but flattering is the key to dressing well. However, although my family is perfectly stable in affording nice things, I have learned from fellow members of my family (who buy 5 pairs of jeans from sears for $20) that buying things for less money is better then anything. Buying most of my clothes from the Salvation Army until a couple years ago, I had no problem telling people i was sporting a large toddler shirt with a whale speaking french from a second hand store. Although, now that I'm old and have taste in how I appear, I can still find great things without my wallet exploding. For me, it's almost a scavenger hunt, to try to find the cheapest thing. I get some form of a rush when you pick up a shirt that you enjoy and the price tag shows in bright red numbers: $5.00. From this blog I hope to show how to "Dress for Less"- just like 'Ross' :), what to do and not to do, and so much more

Thanks!
Katie

ps. no that is not a boy.......that is me
goodnight ;)
